The skin is an organ in constant contact with the outside world, it plays a role in exchange but also, and especially, as a barrier against external elements.

The outer layer of skin is indeed the first defence in protecting it, in the form of a thin film. If the surface is weakened, the skin barrier is broken and the skin becomes more vulnerable to external aggression. Moisturising the skin is primarily to prevent dehydration: Hydrating creams or masks are designed to provide the skin with a bold film that will cover the stratum corneum, so that it doesn’t lose its water or cells.

Avoid using products that attack the skin and accelerate dehydration: hot water or aggressive soaps... The moisturising cream is "moisturising" in the sense that it is also very rich in water, it inflates the cells of the stratum corneum in the bold film provided by the moisturising cream. Moisturise the skin, thus avoiding the inconvenience of dry skin

How to better moisturise the skin.

Avoid using astringent soaps, and hot water (avoid hot showers or extended baths in particular)

Avoid rubbing the skin with your towel, but instead blot the skin as you wipe it.
